Explanation
The deputy resident-general reports to Resident-General Ito Hirobumi on the activities of Yang Gi-tak after his acquittal. The reporting official assesses that the trial sufficiently exposed the poor management of funds donated to the National Debt Redemption Movement, thereby achieving the purpose of prosecuting the case, and that Yang’s acquittal was proof of the fairness of Japan’s justice system, now demonstrated internally and externally. This document reveals how the Japanese authorities in Korea tried to disrupt the National Debt Redemption Movement.
