Explanation
The deputy resident-general reports to Ito Hirobumi on the findings from the interrogation of Yang Gi-tak. The investigators confirmed that Yang and others withdrew 27,500 won from the National Debt Redemption Movement funds in September 1907 and an additional 30,000 won later, deposited the money at a branch of the Hong Kong?Shanghai Bank in Incheon and then withdrew part of the money in February and March 1908 for private purposes. The report also noted that three Korean donors to the movement requested the Hwangseong Sinmun (Capital Gazette), Jeguk Sinmun (Imperial Post) and Daehan Maeil Sinbo (Korea Daily News) to return their donations.
